Royal Mail has recently issued British Design Classics, a set of 10 stamps commemorating several very special creations that the British have given to the world. The tribute covers innovations like the mini car, the mini skirt, the Spitfire, Concorde, the Routemaster double decker bus, the K2 Telephone Kiosk, and the London Underground map. It also includes a few less iconic items such as Polypropylene chair, the anglepoise lamp and Penguine books.
What a great nostalgic set and nice simple clear design. It includes subjects that will be of interest to many collectors. I have heard some people saying that there were better iconic British designs that could have been used. It is of course just a matter of taste and I am sure that many other designs would have been considered. It would be interesting to hear what other designs people think could have been used.
